New Year’s Resolutions check-up

Note that this post is going to get a little bit personal.  It’s going to be a little bit more about me, than the usual tech/social media commentary I give you.
If you have been following me awhile, you know I made new years resolutions back in Janurary on my old blogger Account, if not you can always visit them here.

But now that August has hit, I believe that it is time to take a look at them and see where we are.

  1. I will be the mayor of somewhere on Foursquare. Becoming a Mayor in Foursquare is easy, becoming a Mayor in Raleigh, a booming Social Media town, is harder.  Back in February I was the mayor of three different locations which has since been narrowed to one.
  2. I will officially switch over to the Mac platform, sometime this year. I am currently typing this blog on my first ever Macbook, so I think we can put a check beside this one.  Though the switching was not purely made by my choice.
  3. The words “Settle down” will somewhow/somewhere be expressed by these lips. Though I have decided to settle down for Raleigh in the long term, this “settling down” term is a work in progress.  I currently have an awesome job and still have the time to write for you, my followers, so that’s all that currently matters to me.
  4. I will keep this blog up and running, and every twenty-five posts will involve a good beer. Though beer was involved with many of those posts, the official domain has since transferred over to IDreamInTech.com.
  5. I will watch the finale of Lost and promise not to be shocked, upset, and/or pretend that I knew this was going to happen the whole time. Check.  Though Lost had a controversial ending, I have not blogged nor mentioned Lost since it’s finale.  However I have had many conversations over a beer about my interpretations of the ending and just what did happen to Walt.
  6. I will teach my father the computer skills he needs, to the point that he no longer needs me or to the point, where he has at least an idea of what is going on. Fail.  My father recently called me and asked me how to program phone numbers into his new cellphone.
  7. I will volunteer at least 5 times this year. Fail…sadly.  Though I volunteered at Habitat earlier this year, I have not found any free time between two jobs (and this blog) to volunteer any.  Though I have been able to meet Henry Kastner and his crew at Durham Cares, which I recommend everyone take a look at.
  8. I will finally finish collecting Neil Gaimen’s “The Sandman.” Um…I have the rest of the year right?  I’m still short one book, which you can buy for me here
  9. I will start taking more pictures and create a Flickr account. Though I have not created a Flickr account, my picture intake has greatly improved.  Visit my Facebook page to view a variety of mobile pictures from my recent move.
  10. I will not give my brother any discouragement on any girl he chooses. Well me/Cal are no longer living in the same building so let the fun begin.  So what happens to our love lives from here on out, happens.  There was this cute girl I saw a few Sunday’s ago, but that sort of fizzled out.  Hell, I’m still only 25 and officially on my own in Raleigh, so no worries.

Though many of these resolutions have been hit or miss as you can tell.  I still have four months to go so, I am sure that time will tell whether I will be able to keep up my resolutions this year.
